The owners/operators at Kapiti
Nature Lodge are John and Susan Barrett, and John's sister Amo
Clark.
John and Amo's iwi (tribe) and whānau (family) have been living
on Kapiti Island since the 1820's, and have accumulated an
unsurpassed collection of knowledge and experiences on the island's
history and growth as a world renowned nature reserve, and willingly
share this knowledge with their visitors.
Together with Amo, John and their whānau, there are other expert
guide staff to help provide you with good birding and walking
options at the Lodge. 1 hour guided birding/nature or history
walks are available at $20 per person.
The lodge guides are highly trained, experienced and accredited
nature guides, and are available to accompany guests on day walks
and night-time kiwi spotting walks.
